1。5 starsGOD that was literally so boring。 the characters have nothing interesting to them, i don't even remember half of them because they are just BORING。 feyre is always complaining, tamlin is just like a dick but he’s hot so its okay apparently and lucian broods at dinner。 thats it。my biggest issue though is that the plot just doesn't make sense, partially because the lore? she's nowhere to be seen but also because like there is no sense to it? feyre is being "punished" for killing a fae ye 1。5 starsGOD that was literally so boring。 the characters have nothing interesting to them, i don't even remember half of them because they are just BORING。 feyre is always complaining, tamlin is just like a dick but he’s hot so its okay apparently and lucian broods at dinner。 thats it。my biggest issue though is that the plot just doesn't make sense, partially because the lore? she's nowhere to be seen but also because like there is no sense to it? feyre is being "punished" for killing a fae yeah, so naturally she is held "captive" in a fuckin palace, where she is waited on by servants and makes loads of new friends and is in better conditions than she was before。 i can't empathise with this character at all because her new circumstances just don't make sense。 i don't understand the fae, the magic system or the treaty。 idk if i'm told anything about it aside from a bit at like, the 68% mark, but by that point i'm beyond caring because i needed to know the lore from the start to even begin to understand what i'm reading before。 how can i get immersed in a world when i don't even understand why it is how it is? 。。。more

This is a solid book - I can totally appreciate the hype and love how pacey it is but I definitely feel this book is a lot of stage setting。 Nothing wrong with that as it opens up the reader to a lot of really beautiful world building。

I have no idea where, to begin with, this review。 This may just be my all-time favorite。 A 5 star read for me has to make me feel every emotion there possibly is to feel。 I felt happy, sad, fear, anger, disgust but not once was this book boring。 I couldn't put this book down and for a retelling, it didn't read like a retelling for me。 It was its own story and I fell into it unknowing what to expect or what would happen。 I hated Rhysand however, there were moments he surprised me and I liked him。 I have no idea where, to begin with, this review。 This may just be my all-time favorite。 A 5 star read for me has to make me feel every emotion there possibly is to feel。 I felt happy, sad, fear, anger, disgust but not once was this book boring。 I couldn't put this book down and for a retelling, it didn't read like a retelling for me。 It was its own story and I fell into it unknowing what to expect or what would happen。 I hated Rhysand however, there were moments he surprised me and I liked him。 I hated him as a person but loved his character and who his character was。 Tamlin。。。 loving him should be illegal。 I thought of him as heartless at first but I grew to love him as he fell for Feyre。 The moments they shared had me loving everything whether it was slick comments or how he loved her I enjoyed it。 I enjoyed this book and I cried at the end like full-on ugly cried。 I didn't realize that as I read this story I loved each character except for Amarantha, she deserves what happened to her。 But I loved this book and I'm glad to have picked it up when I did。 Though this book may not be for everyone especially if your not a fantasy kind of person, this was the perfect read for me。 I will be getting my own copy of this book so I can annotate my favorite moments, as this was just a school's library book I am borrowing。 Will definitely get book two。 。。。more

Rating: 3。5 starsThe storyline is interesting but the first half of the book felt very slow! It was definitely a pretty chill read until the last 100 pages。 The writing was very descriptive which I enjoyed, but for some people that may be boring。 I am pleased with the ending and am excited to see what happens with the relationships in the next book!!

I LOVE THIS BOOK, that’s all

Great, quick read。 Very fairytale-esque with some Beauty and the Beast and Cinderella nods。 The characters are compelling and the romance heartachingly romantic。 I bought book two before I was even done with book one。

I have some criticisms I would like to address before beginning this review。1) Would it kill the author to put a POC character? It leaves such a bad taste in my mouth knowing that there is such little diversity in this book。 I have read the Throne of Glass series, and as much as I loved the stories and the characters, it experiences the same problem。 It's kind of ridiculous。 2) I know that the characters are not human, but EVERY character of importance is either handsome of beautiful。 I know tha I have some criticisms I would like to address before beginning this review。1) Would it kill the author to put a POC character? And in the end, that behavior got rewarded too! If Tamlin truly, truly loved Feyre, he would put her needs above his own and do anything in his power to free her。 Which is partially one of the reasons why I must ironically think that Rhysand would be much better love interest! He risked his life and saved her more than once, and when Amarantha was killing Feyre, unlike Tamlin, Rhysand at least did the best that he could to do SOMETHING。 3) I feel like the spring courts' curse wrapped things up, unrealistically, a little too perfectly。 It just seemed like it was a quick explanation for everything that wrapped the plot like a bow。 While this might seem nice, it felt cheap, boring, and not-thought through。 Criticisms aside, I still ate this book up in a few days。 It was very entertaining for my teenage brain and a great distraction from school and life and such。 I quite enjoyed the story, despite its faults。 I honestly am in a very small minority because I honestly DISLIKE the love interest。 Yes, the chemistry is there, but some of Tamlin's behavior is slightly concerning to me for a relationship that is so idolized。 This is not necessarily a criticism, but merely an observation, and I look forward to see how the relationship develops。 At the beginning of the story, I thought Feyre's character was slightly boring, but I loved how strong she was during the trials to save Tamlin。 It seemed to me that while Feyre was willing to put her life on the line for Tamlin, Tamlin was not willing to do the same。 He seems somewhat cowardly to me, for he supposedly sacrificed MANY of his people in order to find the person who could break the curse, while still simply sitting on his butt。 I'm not sure how the story progresses, but I hope there is more of Rhysand! He was my favorite, and it seemed to me like he genuinely cares, despite the façade he demonstrates。 The first part of the book was boring; however, when Feyre goes to rescue Tamlin, the mood changes dramatically。 Despite the tone of this review, I actually quite enjoyed it and look forward to the next book。 It was very magical and the world building is fantastic。 。。。more

What the actual hell was that whole riddle thing😂。 LOVE??? Seriously? I mean you do you honey but that was a bit ridiculous for a baddie don’t you think? Also the amount of specific requirements for breaking the curse were hilarious。 So yeah it was really not that deep。 3 stars because I guess it could have been worse but。。。 meh🤷🏻‍♀️I will be reading the second book and it better get good。 I like Rhysand so far and Tamlin is just so extremely “whatever” that a bit of assholeness will give him some flavor (??) so my hopes are high。 。。。more

I loved this book, all its characters, its plot twists, the vibes coming from it were just what I needed right now to drag me out of Uni stuffs。 I thought the first part was sometimes predictable。 Knowing that it is a retelling of Beauty and the Beast, I wasn't that impressed with the first part of the book since I'd already envisaged a few moments before they had happened。 But still, I really appreciated how we were progressively emerged within the story and this world。 I didn't feel overwhelme I loved this book, all its characters, its plot twists, the vibes coming from it were just what I needed right now to drag me out of Uni stuffs。 I thought the first part was sometimes predictable。 Knowing that it is a retelling of Beauty and the Beast, I wasn't that impressed with the first part of the book since I'd already envisaged a few moments before they had happened。 But still, I really appreciated how we were progressively emerged within the story and this world。 I didn't feel overwhelmed with an impossible amount of details about it at first, which I found appreciable。 And I thought it good to have characters that weren't perfect but, on the contrary, quite detestable sometimes。 The second part was, to me, better – is it because Rhysand appeared and I was waiting for him since the beginning ? Yes。 All jokes apart, I thought it was better because we had the chance to be more surprised。 From one chapter to the other, the dynamic was better and it really made me want to know what was coming next。 Surprisingly, I'd found the answer to the riddle very quickly, though I wasn't sure if it was correct until Feyre gives the answer (satisfactory moment, I was quite happy with myself and to know that I wasn't dumb after all)。 Hum, so yes, I thought it was a very good book, not perfect but it kept me curious and keen to know the end until。。。 well, the end。Rhysand, darling, I'm coming for you soon。 *make a heart with her fingers* ♡ 。。。more

I thought this would be a light, quick read between some more literary books, and it both met and exceeded my expectations。 It's just。。。very YA and inoffensive, really。The writing style isn't for me。 Everything gets an adjective, Maas really likes repeating phrases with a slightly different descriptor for emphasis, and it's very focussed on internal monologue。 Fun to listen to as light background noise, but not anything that really engaged me。 If the characters had been less flat, or the world b I thought this would be a light, quick read between some more literary books, and it both met and exceeded my expectations。 It's just。。。very YA and inoffensive, really。The writing style isn't for me。 Everything gets an adjective, Maas really likes repeating phrases with a slightly different descriptor for emphasis, and it's very focussed on internal monologue。 Fun to listen to as light background noise, but not anything that really engaged me。 If the characters had been less flat, or the world building not sacrificed for the writing style and romance, then I might have cared more。 Not to say Maas hasn't created a strong world as the background for the story, and I really like the detail of the different kind of faeries (though I think she's a little bit of a coward for not making the high fey/love interests a lot more inhuman), but a lot of it is delivered as very bland monologue。 People stand still and just talk to each other in the most boring way, as opposed to it being properly worked into what they're currently doing。 I'm glad I gave this staple of the genre a try, but I probably won't pick up the rest。 (I also cannot forgive Feyre for not getting the answer to that riddle sooner。。。) 。。。more

I just finished this and all I can muster is "Wow"! This is not my normal genre, at all, and after hearing so many people raving over this series, I finally gave it a try。 I'm so glad that I did! I keep hearing about this series and finally got around to reading book one。 I wasn't super in love, but the last 150 pages or so were extremely fast paced and I really enjoyed them。 I've heard the 2nd book is better than the first, so I will absolutely keep going。 I keep hearing about this series and finally got around to reading book one。 I wasn't super in love, but the last 150 pages or so were extremely fast paced and I really enjoyed them。 I've heard the 2nd book is better than the first, so I will absolutely keep going。 。。。more
